Working together
Working together is not only driven by what the National Framework (external link) says fire and rescue authorities should collaborate on. We have recognised for many years that there is value in working together. For example, the south east has just completed a programme of peer reviews of each other's arrangements for managing fire-fighter safety. We have also shared policies and procedures, such as protocols for dealing with fires in high-rise premises. We are also working on developing standard breathing apparatus training programmes across the region.
SEFIP's role is to encourage collaboration wherever this help to deliver a better service to the public, make our fire-fighters safer, or to reduce pressure on council tax levels.
