SE Region Fire and Rescue Service Annual ADC/In Band Interview Plan Monday 19 May 2008 14:30
Promotion within the Fire and Rescue Service is conducted through two distinct but related processes.
Depending on the level of promotion that is desired, the two processes are either an Assessment Development Centre (ADC) or a Competency Based Interview (CBI).
The Assessment Development Centre consists of a series of activities that are measured against a core set of competencies and entry to an ADC is subject to successful completion of an entry activity. Measurement of the core competencies is through direct observation by a number of trained competent assessors.The CBI is a set of two interviews which measures individuals against the core competencies, based on past experiences.
There are three levels of competence. These are called Supervisory Manager, Middle Manager and Strategic Manager. All these core competencies measure behavioural competence and not operational or technical competence.
This plan is provided to enable each of the nine SE Region Fire and Rescue Services to publish their plan on a common web site to enable the best use of resources within the region.
